Health and Safety Statement of Intent

Our aim is to create a safe and supportive working environment where our employees feel they can work safely, be confident to raise concerns and can bring their best to work every day. They will understand their purpose, responsibilities and be empowered towards keeping themselves and everyone else safe.

Darnells has a duty of care under the Health & Safety at Work Act (1974), and other subordinate legislation, to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health, safety and welfare of employees, and those persons who are not employees who might be affected by the activities of the organisation.

We are committed to providing the funds and equipment to ensure that a high standard of health, safety and welfare is met. We will empower our employees by providing high quality information, instruction, training, and supervision to enable them to work safely and effectively and to ensure they are competent and confident in their work.

Darnells will provide safe working conditions for our employees, service users, visitors and contractors. In addition, every effort will be made to ensure the safety and welfare of members of the public.

All employees are expected to work safely and consider the safety of others at all times. Employees are required to observe local and organisation wide health and safety rules and procedures which are designed to prevent accidents. Employees are required to co-operate and participate with management in their aim to maintain and promote safe working conditions.

We will appoint competent persons to be responsible for monitoring workplace health, safety and welfare arrangements, liaise with enforcing authorities where necessary and keep the Partners informed of relevant changes in legislation.

We will actively consult with our workforce, encouraging and supporting an open attitude to health and safety issues, encouraging everyone to identify and report hazards and suggest innovative solutions so that we can all contribute to creating and maintaining a safe working environment.
